1960s Echo Tone Fiberglass Conga Set

Black paint with red accents.

11.5" Conga with neck.

Appears to be original head. One small gash just below the neck, and does not penetrate the lacquer. Two small, adjacent chips towards bottom of shell. Two dents inward on the edge. Otherwise round and head sits leveled. Head is in good shape.

11.75" Conga without neck.

Scuffs around. One small gash to left of one side plate, and does not penetrate the lacquer. Replaced with an LP head. Edge feels round and head sits leveled.

Two tripod conga stands included.

Started by Frank Mesa, manufactured in New York City from late 50s into early 70s. Echo Tone congas were played by Frankie Malabe, Willie Bobo, Cándido Camero, Carlos "Patato" Valdez and Ray Barretto. They Master Henry Gibson's conga of choice in Curtis Mayfield's Superfly.
