1957-58 K. Zildjian 18" Old Stamp IVa Sizzle Crash Ride
1378g
3 original, equidistant rivets. 1 rivet missing.
Pressed stamp appears to be Old Stamp IVa, while it is difficult to read.
Ink stamp on bottom - "K. ZILDJIAN & Co. / ISTANBUL / THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY / AUTHENTIC TURKISH CYMBAL"
Clean condition, with a smokey patina throughout and scattered darker spots. Ink stamp area is discolored, likely from stamping process, as there's no signs of tape residue. Bell is in great shape with no keyholing. Two faint fleabites near primary stamp, too small to photo. Normal light playing wear only present to touch otherwise.
Low profile with a low fundamental pitch. Eye-catching, off-center lathing around bell. Soft attack with a musically trashy decay. Mellow but present bell. Responsive and dry crash, with rivet wash providing most of the decay. Sizzle is responsive and even under the lightest touch. An inspiring left side or smaller primary ride that represents some of the most beautiful and desirable characteristics of old K. Zildjian cymbals.
